LOOK AT LONGRIDGE
There is good news and bad news to come from
Longridge on the real ale front.
The Duke William is once again re-open after a lengthy period of closure,
and on a recent visit Black Sheep Bitter and Timothy Taylors landlord were
spotted on the bar. It has been taken on by Carefoots and they plan to
reintroduce food as soon as possible.
Up the road at the Weavers, apart from the well kept Tetley's cask, the
2ndpump has been graced with some adventurous guest beers,
including
Harviestoun Schiehallion the fantastic 4.8% lager beer. On speaking to the
landlord he says he will keep the guests coming if the demand is there!
Not so good news at the Dog Inn all but one of the handpumps have been
removed, and the one remaining has not been in use for many months. A far
cry from a couple of years ago when you could get London pride, summer
lightning and Landlord regularly in there!! There is a new landlady at the
helm now so let's hope real ale can be introduced soon and this pub can be
once again returned to the great pub it should be!
The Durham Ox continues to bring some interesting guests they have one
pump in use and recently spotted have been the excellent Hopback "Crop
Circle" and Youngs "Bitter"
Down at the Townley Hotel, an excellent pint of Tetleys cask is kept, and
with the second hand pump recently repaired, Bowland "Hen Harrier" been
spotted and was in fine form.
A bit of a shock discovery in Longridge to find the Conservative Club
serving 4 real ales! These included Theakstons Bitter, a mild and guests
from Moorhouses or Caledonian! Non-members can usually be signed in if you
ask someone nicely!
Finally, the Alston Arms which closed at the start of the year has
re-opened as a restaurant with no real ale.
Another sad loss of a local
pub...
